Norsvin Delta milestone - 1,000 boars off-tested

This week Norsvin’s new boar test station – Norsvin Delta – passed a milestone! Since the opening in March this year, the staff at Norsvin Delta has scanned 1,000 boars in the Computer Tomograph (CT). 550 Landrace and 450 Duroc boars have taken the tour through the CT-scanner so far – providing “live” data of the boars internal composition. Next year 3,500 boars will go through the CT-scanner.
The boost in increased genetic progress is even higher than Norsvin scientists had expected.
Breeding seminar with Lithuanian pig producers

Together with the Lithuanian Pig Producers Association (LPPA), Norsvin Lietuva arranged a seminar for pig producers the 23rd of October. The seminar was addressing the potentials found in modern pig breeding, and consequently its genetics.
Jonas Zaltuaskas (Norsvin Lietuva) and Algis Baravykas (LPPA) had done a great job marketing the seminar, and all seats were taken by the time the seminar started. Norsvin opens new boar test station – Norsvin Delta!

11th of March 2008 was a significant day for modern pig breeding. Together with partners and friends from Europe and America, Norsvin celebrated the opening of Norsvin Delta. Norsvin Delta, located close to the Olympic city of Lillehammer, Norway, is the name of Norsvin’s new boar test station. 3 500 boars will be tested annually at Norsvin Delta, all of which will end the test with more than 1 200 internal pictures each, providing Norsvin with detailed knowledge of each selection candidates meat, bone and fat content.
Combining that data with FE and growth, there you have the formula for creating something uniqe.

Norsvin Lietuva attending trade fair Moscow

Week 6, Norsvin Lietuva met potential clients in Moscow, Russia. Together with Norsvin’s Genetic Support Manager Europe, Knut Roland, Norsvin Lietuva was present with General Manager Jonas Zultauskas and Breeding Manager Mindaugas Lazdauskas.

TLC Boar Stud approved to Export NORSVIN Genetics

Producers in Canada and Mexico can now capture value from using Norsvin genetics. TLC Boar Stud in Harmony, Minnesota is approved by the USDA to export Norsvin Landrace, Yorkshire, Duroc and LD semen to Canada and Mexico.
Tests in U.S. swine production systems prove superior value of Norsvin lines known for sow productivity, feed efficiency and lean meat yield.
